Okay, so Sunday here is actually Saturday (we had church a day early, talk about an adjustment!) So on Sunday a big group of us went out into the city and just roamed around again. Its a relatively small place; I would compare it to Rome rather than a place like Paris. I am going to have plenty of time to see everything. We went out to the Holy Sepulchre and the Western Wall, holy cow! I was able to feel the spirit so strong at both places. Its incredible how much the people here just love God (or Allah). They are so devoted and respectful. Its impossible not to appreciate their example. At the western wall we had to go through some security before we could even get out to the courtyard, the courtyard had at least 100+ troops just waiting there, and to top it off the women and the men had separate. The men on the left and the women on the right- the left supposedly is closer to God and much more holy ground. Today (Monday) we had our first field trip- we went to so many different places- Augusta Victoria Lutheran Church, several lookout points, lookout point to Bethlehem, Nabi Samwil (mistaken death place of Samuel- he actually died east of their- it includes a synagogue and a mosque) All in all a magically hot and sweaty day)

Okay, I dont know how much I will be posting on this blog but this place is absolutely incredible. Its such a wonderful place to be. There is so much history and religion and politics here I have just barely BARELY scratched the surface. Its been so neat. Its so different than paris. Its hard that not to compare but they are completely different. I am going to try to post pictures but our internet is sketchy here (they have facebook blocked) My group here is wonderful- I am getting along with pretty much everyone. Its a giant EFY. For some reasons when I get put in these situations I get incredibly outgoing. So its a good time. A wonderful gardener at the garden of gethsemane- he works there everyday, his father and grandfather both managed the garden. An incredibly nice man, he even gave me a little cross made from a branch from one of the olive trees in the garden.

HollieI was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go live abroad again from August 2012 to December 2012. Jerusalem is the city of love for me- I met and fell in love with my hubby here. My life was forever changed after this experience! Archives
