As you know, we went to the red sea the other day. Like totally not a big deal, alright?
Just kidding. I was absolutely thrilled to be snorkeling- makes me miss family scuba diving trips at electric beach in hawaii. (And my daddy-daughter taco bell runs afterwards!)

I got to ride a camel. In Petra. In Jordan.
I mean if I wasnt the one who had done it I would be green with envy right now! Literally, one of the greatest things of my life. I was ecstatic! Im sure Skylor got a little sick of me talking about it nonstop for the rest of the day. But its okay- I'm in love with these animals! For whatever reason Shannon and I love to take senior pics every now and then. We took SO many in Paris, so before I left for Jerusalem we had to have a little reenactment. We borrowed the camera of my madre went out to a random field and took some shots. Jeez I miss this girl! Obviously we cant pull one normal face. Ever haha.
This summer I had the privilege to live with a hard-core real-life Canadian.
Yikes right? hahah jk jk. It was such a good time. We ended up going up to Canada to visit her family and to hit up the most famous Calgary Stampede. This stampede happens once a year (July 12-15), and is an absolute blast. And the cowboys that compete are very talented because they have to be invited to ride up there. Being the total heart-breaker, man-killers that we are, we made friends with some lovely little cowboys. There was one that I was particularly fond of named Jacobs Crawley. What a babe. Total red head but thats okay. Lol still cute. He had the sweetest little texan accent and knew how to country dance up a storm. We gave him a place to stay for one of the nights and watched him ride his saddle-bronc the next day. He was one of the 'wild cards' and he had 3 re-rides since his bronc was seriously going crazy! Conclusion: Rodeo is a hard core sport (Made the mistake of telling him that I thought it was a little silly... whoops) And that cowboys are dang dang sexy. In October I had the chance to visit ROMA. It was one of the most magical experiences of my life. Jee, do I love that city. Shannon, Maddy, Whitney and I decided to take the plunge and visit another country. And can I just tell you how nice it was that Whitney's mom works for the Marriott? We got to stay in these BOMB.com rooms for like 40 euro. It was amazing!! Our cab driver literally had no idea where the hotel was, and dropped us off at the wrong hotel at first (yikes!). Needless to say, it was an adventure :) Loved staying in such a fancy hotel.
First of all, hi this was like the best idea ever. Amy=genius because I did steal this idea from her! This weekend was extremely randomly weird. I came down to alpine to just spend the weekend here and I had a blast! I was sitting at the park and Amy randomly came up and found me. (Stalk much?) Jk jk So we had to do something on the bucket list! Who wouldn't want to play tomato baseball on a saturday evening??? After running through sprinklers, eating happy meals and hitting up walmart- we booked it over to the park. Pictures were a must because if there arent pictures that means that it never happened! (Quoted from M. Findeis) We tried to take some ourselves but it just wasnt working out- and there was a group of available 15-year olds who were more than happy to take photogs. PS. So we had to separate the teams...
Amy=team no shirt Hollie= team no pants (swim suits make everything easier!) This is Austin. My blind date that I was extremely nervous about! But oh my goodness turned out to be the best date ever. He is the sweetest guy ever! Tandem biking was a blast!! We went to a park to get some water (it was sweltering outside!) and had this kid from high school track practice, take a picture of us. Love it!
Today was a fantastic day in the life of this hollie.
I finished my first triathlon!! I am so proud of myself, this was not an easy feat. Although I had limited training (I can be lazy sometimes- who isn't?), I finished this sucker in approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes! So let me start off with the swim. We tried the water out the night before and it was ICE cold. Like so freaking cold. We did have wetsuits though! So in the morning we dawned out bright orange caps, goggles, and ultra-tight wetsuits and set off in a mile long race. You can only be kicked in the head so many times before you get sick of it. I did have a little cop out and swim it backstroke instead of freestyle. I saved some energy, and with the current, it didn't make that big of a difference. Then we had the bike portion. OUCH. I didn't train on the bike at all- so that seat=killer!!!!!! I got on and immediately thought, "What did I get myself into???" I had to alternate, I did ten seconds sprints, then five second rest where I would lift up my bum and let it breathe. haha I finished though. I carefully got off my bike and about collapsed. Turns out your legs need some time to adjust after 25 miles on a bike. But I got rolling pretty quickly. I was actually looking forward to the run because, A: I know how to run. & B: The chances of getting injured are significantly reduced. I have got to say that July 25, 2011 was one of the best that I remember. This concert was absolutely unreal! Katy Perry is so fun and entertaining, and most importantly- she's REAL. She's not trying to be the next Spears (thank goodness!) If I could be anyone famous- it would be her. Amy and I had to get some pre-concert, totally American food. So hot dogs were the obvious answer. I just like this picture because it goes to show that I am a true KP fan- soooo much pink lip stick! Ames &I looking down at the stage from our seats, which weren't too shabby. While we were waiting for the concert to start I got on facebook to brag about my night. Low and behold guess who else checked in at the Energy Solutions Arena?? The lovely bean. First time that I have seen her in a while! ust an all-around fun night with my bestie! These times are coming to a close for this year because I am moving. And boy, will I miss her!
Middle of the madness!! What's up Mr. Speedo. hahah
Speedos make me giggle uncontrollably. Another food fight soon? I think yes!! |
HollieBack in 2011 I had a blog called, "life as a hollie" where I recorded one of the funnest summers of my life. This bucket list helped me get through a tough break up & figure out who Hollie really was. This ended up being one of the most influential summers of my life (thus far). Archives
